Day 2: Tsukiji Fish Market

Hello from the end of day 2! Today didn't go totally as expected because I ended up getting a stomach bug and stayed in most of the afternoon/evening. But, we did have a really fun morning up until then at the Tsukiji Fish Market.

Visitng the fish market was such a cool experience! We saw hundreds of vendors selling fresh sushi, sashimi, ramen, and other foods. The food in the market was the real deal-- the fish is all incredibly fresh and extremely high quality, purchased daily in the morning. We made our rounds in the market, then opted for some sushi. Apparently, the lighter in color of the tuna, the higher fat content and the tastier it is. This sushi was so tasty! The guy cutting the fish and preparing the sushi even slipped us some free sashimi cuts when we told him how good the sushi was. We thought he'd be used to it by now! The people here in Japan have been so friendly. Everyone is always extremely eager to help. Here are some pictures I took.

We bought a matcha mochi to take home for dessert from one of the venders, and the man selling it was so sweet-- he gave us a second one for free! The people here truly are really friendly and I think they have a particular liking for foreigners.
